Half marathon returns to city
Runners get their chance to go the distance in two events based in Lincoln in 2025.
Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All has announced the launch of the Lincoln Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, October 5 next year with entries open now.
This will follow City of Lincoln 10K, which also returns to the city on April 6, 2025, and give runners who are looking to increase their distance with the 13.1 mile course but set themselves a more achievable aim than a full marathon.
Starting and finishing at Lincolnshire Showground the route will take runners through the city centre and surrounding areas as the Lincoln’s including the castle and cathedral.
Designed to be accessible for all, event organisers encourage participants of all abilities to jog, walk or run, promoting inclusivity regardless of physical ability. Spectators are encouraged to cheer them along the route.
“Whether those getting involved are looking to fundraise for a charity of choice, chase a personal best time or simply wanting to run for fun, the Lincoln Half Marathon isa great opportunity for all to get involved,” said Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All.
Runners will be rewarded with a goody bag of post-run treats and bespoke medal for them to remember the day when they return to the showground to cross the finish line.
Tristan added: “Providing a fundraising vehicle for charities is the primary objective of every Run For All event, ensuring that the money being raised stays local and supports the causes that needs them most.
“With community and charity at its core, participants are encouraged to take part and raise money for their own personal reasons, or to support one of the event’s partner charities; Lincoln City Foundation and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.”
Any further organisations interested in becoming an Official Charity Partner should contact Run For All as soon as possible.
Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council, said: "We are thrilled to welcome the new half marathon to Lincoln next year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful city to runners and visitors alike. Local businesses will be able to get involved and it will shine a spotlight on everything Lincoln has to offer.
"Promoting fitness and well-being is a key priority for City of Lincoln Council, and this event highlights the importance of staying active while fostering a sense of community. We look forward to seeing everyone come together for this exciting event."
