Keep your child safe online

Parents worried about what their children may be experiencing online can get free digital safety advice.

Two Teams sessions have been organised to give parents and carers the chance to get their questions answered on issues such as age-appropriate apps, online trends, parental controls, social media and more.

The online events will be hosted by the county’s Stay Safe team, which in the last academic year has delivered workshops to 50,000 children aged between seven and 18 – helping them develop the skills they need to navigate the online world safely.

Kathryn Smith, community safety strategy coordinator, said: “Parents can understandably be concerned about the disturbing content their children could be being exposed to online.

“Last year more than 600 parents joined our free online safety events and found them really beneficial, helping them to understand the complex issues that our young people can face.  

“At these sessions parents will receive the most up to date information on what their children are experiencing online and have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have, so they can feel more confident in keeping them safe from online harm.”
