Lincoln Beer Festival gets thumbs up from drinkers at Southside
The 43rd Lincoln CAMRA Beer Festival has been hailed a success by drinkers and organisers at its new venue, Southside.
Numbers were up on last year’s event and visitors were able to enjoy over 70 different real ales along with ciders, perries and world beers at the former St Katherine’s Church on Colegrave Street.
The main bar area was in the venue’s large church hall with live music and seating in its second auditorium, the Amie Slavin Hall while many drinkers opted to enjoy their ales outside in the weekend’s sunshine.
“The weekend equalled beer festival bliss! The new venue is amazing, the staff is incredible and our customers are lovely,” was CAMRA’s verdict on social media.
Southside’s Colin Webb agreed: “What a buzz! It’s been a blast and the enthusiasm of the crowds for the festival was an absolute joy. We’d sold 98% of the beer and cider by the end of the event.
“The mix of food trucks and music just added to the lovely atmosphere and we had a steady stream of visitors all three days with the enthusiasts queuing up before opening to get their favourite spots.
“Our staff, under the leadership of Emily Nichol, fitted seamlessly with the CAMRA volunteers to make the event enjoyable and run smoothly.
“We hope this is the first of many Lincoln Beer Festivals with CAMRA here at Southside – it demonstrated yet again that, for the people of Lincoln, it’s not all about uphill.”
