Lincoln man, 82, jailed for rape
A man from Lincoln who sexually abused multiple children has been jailed for 18 years.
Barrie Hall, of St Andrew's Gardens, was sentenced for sexual offences dating back to 1982, when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday,
The 82-year-old pleaded guilty to nine offences, including rape and sexual assault, when he appeared before court officials earlier this year.
Those offences occurred between 1982 and 2024.
Detective Constable Bell said: “The scale of Hall’s offending is truly horrifying and shows a complete and utter disregard for his victim’s dignity and wellbeing.
“He offended over a prolonged period of time while presenting himself as a child-friendly fundraiser in the community.
“But these offences show that Hall posed a serious threat to children and was an extremely dangerous individual.
“I want to thank those who came forward who made this conviction possible – without their bravery and courage, Hall might still be on our streets.
“I hope that this result in some way helps them find a sense of closure and allows them to move forward.
“And finally, I’d like to thank everyone who worked on this case within the force. This investigation was complex and required a lot of hard work and collaboration.”
Police urge victims of rape or sexual assault or any other sexual offence to report it as soon as possible.
“Even if you’re not 100 per cent sure, we want to hear from you so that we can make sure you’re safe,” said a spokesperson.
