Mansfield Town 0, Lincoln City 3
Imps head coach Michael Skubala was pleased with his side's performance in the 3-0 win at Mansfield Town on Tuesday night.
A first City goal from Sam Clucas along with strikes from Dom Jefferies and captain Paudie O'Connor ensured all three points would return to the LNER Stadium.
The City boss said: "It was a fantastic away performance and it had everything in it. At 1-0 we got dragged around a little and had to put our bodies on the line but in the second half we controlled the game. What was really pleasing was the impact from our bench. The whole group out there were magnificent."
Skubala had made four changes to the side that took on Leyton Orient at the weekend. Defender Tendayi Darikwa returned to the squad after the birth of his child during the week. The other three changes saw Adam Jackson, Tom Bayliss and James Collins return to the starting eleven.
Both Clucas' first goal as an Imp as well as O'Connor's opener were from corners, and Skubala was keen to recognise the danger his side impose from set-pieces.
He said: "We know we are good from set-pieces. Our set pieces have been good all season and I thought you saw that again. Sam's delivery was great again. If it didn't go straight in then there was a man at the back post ready to nod it in. When he came into the game you saw his experience with his little touches, which we know he has."
Nearly 1,500 supporters made the trip to the One Call Stadium for the midweek fixture, with City's head coach full of praise for the travelling support.
He added: "I thought the fans were fantastic tonight. It was amazing. They can come away watching their team put in a good performance, with three goals and go home happy. We push again onto Saturday, hopefully with a good crowd, and try and roll over to another win."
