Police warn of scam calls targeting Hykeham residents

Lincolnshire Police are urging residents in the Hykeham area to remain vigilant following reports of fraudsters posing as police officers or bank workers in an attempt to steal money.

The scammers are calling victims and persuading them to withdraw large sums of cash under the guise of protecting their finances. In some cases, they also request personal details, PIN numbers, or bank cards.

Officers are reminding the public that neither the police nor banks will ever ask for such information or instruct people to make withdrawals or purchases on their behalf.

A police spokesperson said: “We know that not everyone follows us on social media, so we’re asking the community to help us spread the word. Please check in with elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends, or neighbours and warn them about these scams.”

Anyone who receives a suspicious call should hang up immediately and report it to Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040 or online via the Lincolnshire Police website.
