City council in running for three tourism awards

Lincoln’s Festival of History has been Event/Festival of the Year in The Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25.

Organised for the first time in 2024 by City of Lincoln Council the nomination recognising its role in bringing history to life for residents and visitors alike.

Two tourism specialists employed by the council are also nominated - Lucy Russon, Events, Tourism and Culture Officer for the Going Places Award, celebrating her emerging talent in the tourism sector and Michele Sims, Lincoln Visitor Information Centre Manager, has been recognised for her dedication with a nomination for the Outstanding Contribution Award.

The Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25 are presented by Destination Lincolnshire and Discover Rutland, and accredited by VisitEngland to celebrate achievements across the tourism sector 

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony on February 28, 2025, at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised across three categories in The Tourism Excellence Awards. 

 “These nominations highlight our commitment to making Lincoln a vibrant and welcoming destination for all, from our Festival of History, which we hope to grow and continue to improve in years to come, to our dedicated team members who go above and beyond. 

 “We’re incredibly proud of the quality of our current and emerging staff. Lucy and Michele should be very pleased with their outstanding contributions, and we look forward to seeing Lincoln’s hard work and innovation celebrated on both regional and national stages.”
